Four days ago, I wrote an article about a student who learned to hold fluent conversations in just 12 lessons. Here’s the article link and see below for the testimonial she left after that lesson.
The key to her success was a Fluency Framework I’ve created called Triple A. It stands for Ask, Acknowledge, Add. This framework makes conversations easy. Just ask simple questions, use simple words to acknowledge what the the other person said, and add relevant information to the conversation.
The student improved by 76% today.
A few days ago we conversed in French for 25 minutes. Today we did the same for 44 minutes. That’s a huge improvement in between lessons. The main differences were:
She was more skilled at using the Triple A Framework
I taught her a framework called the 4-Layer Backup Plan
Make a list of at least 4 things you will say or do if you don’t understand what a native speaker says to you
That’t it! Now the focus will be on maintaining this level. I’ll start using a Success Streak with this student - the number of lessons in a row she can maintain this level. After a Success Streak of 10, she will move on to the next level.
Conversational fluency is quite straightforward to achieve.
At least, it is with the approach I’ve been developing for over a year.
