I’m hiring fluent French and Spanish speakers to teach adults on Zoom using experimental accelerated teaching methods that I’m designing.
My goal is to design teaching methods that lead to fluency 2-3x faster than what is currently thought to be possible.
It intimidates me to write such a bold statement. I’m afraid to fail. However, feel that I may as well try to think big and see what happens, especially since I’ve tended to think too small in the past.
No previous teaching experience is required, but you do need to:
Speak, read, and write French and/or Spanish at an advanced level
Have near-native or native pronunciation in French and/or Spanish
Speak, read, and write English at an advanced level
Keep reading below for more details. Once you have, contact me if you’re interested in the role.
Two days ago, I shared this part-time job posting for online French and Spanish instructors.
As I wrote in that post, the pay is $25-$30/hr to start, but I hope to pay you $40-$50/hr down the road. Hours are flexible p/t. No prior teaching experience is required because I will train you both in:
Tried and true teaching methods and,
Experimental methods I come up with. You will test drive them. This will allow me to see if the materials I make (PDFs, PPT slides, etc) are functional and easy to use by others aside from me. I’ll also be able to identify the flawed elements of my curriculum and methods.
In other words, you will receive ongoing training and gain hands-on teaching experience.
Best case scenario, you will become among the best foreign language instructors in the world. Eek. It’s both exciting and intimidating to write that down.
Worst case scenario, you’ll become as competent as other qualified instructors currently on the market.
In my eyes, that’s a win-win scenario :)
These are the traits I’m seeking in applicants. I strive to follow through on these myself. It’s a 2-way street.
Reliability. Your word is your bond. You consistently follow through on your word.
Responsiveness. More specifically:
Responding to emails within 48 hours.
Responding to texts or calls within a few hours at most. I try to only text/call if it’s urgent. If you’ve told me in advance about days/times that you aren’t available, I wouldn’t expect you to respond to texts/calls during those times.
An eagerness to learn and grow
Friendliness (i.e., people tend to like you)
Competence (i.e., people tend to trust you to shoulder responsibility and perform tasks)
Strong sense of integrity
This job is for you if you…
Are seeking long-term employment. I work with people for years, not weeks or months.
Are a constant learner who wants to excel at teaching adults French and/or Spanish
Are a goal-oriented person. I will ask you about your short, medium, and long-term goals and try to structure this role so that I can help you reach them.
Interested?
If yes, contact me and we’ll hop on a Zoom call to discuss other relevant information about the position, any questions you have, and what the interview process entails.
