This is a continuation of yesterday’s blog post.
Please read it if you have not done so already. In a nutshell, yesterday I shared some information about the following aspects of my life:
Business
Dating
Content creation
Identity
Today I’d like to continue this brain dump. I initially thought I’d be able to start clarifying and specifying my thinking today, but it seems I have a lot more to get out on paper first.
Without further ado, let’s begin.
Lately find myself avoiding the word “want.”
This is because:
When I examine the things I say I “want” I quickly find out that I didn’t actually want what I said I wanted
I don’t know if I’d really be satisfied/happy if I do get what I want. Therefore, I don’t know if orienting my decisions based on “wants” is the proper course of action
Wants feel wishy-washy, fleeting, and evanescent.
Often when I think, speak, and act based on wants I feel:
Inarticulate
Confused
Weak
Overwhelmed
In most cases (except when it comes to deeply rooted desires) it’s usually hard to pinpoint what I want without the want changing. Furthermore, as I said before, who knows if I actually want what I say I want or if my desires are even good for me.
I feel differently when it comes to facts/truths.
For me, it’s hard to figure out what I want, but it’s much easier to pinpoint facts/truths. Therefore, when I think, speak, and act based on facts/truth I tend to feel:
Grounded
Secure
Confident
I then use those facts/truths as clues to figure out what I actually want. In other words, there are an infinite number of facts/truths that I could have noticed, so what I’m thinking is that the ones I happen to notice are the clues to figure out what I really want.
I also think (though I might be wrong) facts/truths end up helping me find deeply rooted desires, whereas jumping directly to figuring out what I want simply leads to confusion.
This is a good place to wrap up today’s blog post.
I’ll continue it next time. Thank you for reading. I am planning on, for now, exploring some facts as a starting point next time.
