I just recorded a masterclass.
It’s on self-study strategies. Without them, I genuinely believe reaching fluency is almost impossible. Seriously.
Most people don’t know how to learn languages
Therefore, they use ineffective self-study methods or rely on a weekly class to guide them to fluency. If I’ve learned anything over the past 17+ years, it’s that neither work. Classes and fumbling through by yourself both don’t usually lead to fluency.
That’s why I made this masterclass.
I show you my 10 favourite self-study exercises. They’re easy to do and effective. I also teach the difference between acquisition and learning. In short:
Learning: This is how most adults learn languages. They consciously learn by studying (e.g., grammar rules, memorization, drills, etc).
Acquisition: This is not something most adults do. It refers to unconscious learning. Think of how babies learn their first language. They simply absorb the language naturally into their brain.
Both are crucial.
Even though it may sound better to lean into acquisition, balancing both is generally the best recipe for success.
How do you learn AND acquire a language?
It’s easy. I answer the question in the masterclass. Basically, if you mix and match the 10 self-study activities I cover, you will automatically end up doing both “acquisition” and “learning.”
Here’s a teaser.
I’ve blacked out the activities, but you can see that each activity is either learning- focused and/or acquisition-focused. Are you enticed? Will this make you watch the masterclass? 😉
Here’s another teaser.
This is a table from the masterclass. You can see a detailed breakdown of how each strategy will help you in your language learning journey.
Watch the masterclass for the instructions and activity names 😉
Want to watch the masterclass?
It’s free and I have only shared it here on Substack. You get early access 😊 I’m wanting to see what the reaction is here before making it fully public.
If you have any thoughts or feedback on it, let me know.
Here’s the private YouTube video.
It’s not a public link. Only those I send the link to can watch it.

I was so ready to see if I could afford the fees! Imagine my surprise when I got to the end and you wrote that it's free !!
Thank you! Watching it now!
