One of my French students suddenly became way more fluent.
It was rather remarkable. One month ago, she communicated tentatively and nervously, despite having low-B2 level (at least in terms of conversation.) Yesterday, she spoke naturally and fluently. I was shocked! That change does not take usually take place so quickly.
How did this happen?
In a single word: confidence. She experienced a sudden spike in confidence in French and is not as self-conscious as she used to be. This increase in self-confidence came as a result of speaking French with native speakers outside of class. She proved to herself that she can hold her own in the “real world.”
In my experience, most language learners feel self-conscious.
This then acts as a barrier to fluency. Flip the self-consciousness to self-confidence and watch how much fluent you become overnight. Show yourself that you are capable, like my student did. Gradually step outside of your comfort zone. As your confidence grows, so will your fluency.
Here’s another key to fluency:
Clarity leads to confidence
Confusion leads to anxiety
If you have clarity on what next steps you should take, you’ll feel confident. That confidence will translate into faster progress and more fluency.
Good news: I can help you have more clarity. It’s free, no strings attached.
