Reminder: In case you didn’t read my previous blog post, I am teaching free workshops and heavily discounted group classes starting the week of January 8th. There are classes on pronouncing French nasal vowels, rolling your R in Spanish, French/Spanish conversation groups, and a 3-week self-study jumpstart course.
Contact me if you would like more information about any of those. They start up next week.
New Years Language Resolutions
Do you have any language learning goals for 2024?
I don’t have any concrete goals, but I have a lofty one for Mandarin: reach 10,000 known words in the LingQ app. LingQ is, primarily, a reading and listening comprehension app.
It is not mandatory to set any language learning goals for 2024, but…
While it’s not mandatory, you might find that it gives you an extra short-term motivational boost. Use that energy to carry you through at least the first part of 2024.
Here are some goals you can choose to set.
This is in case you want to set a language learning goal, but don’t know what kind of goal to set.
Number of hours spent learning your target language. I have a habit tracker if you want to log your hours. Email me if you want me to send it to you
Level-based goals. For example, you might choose to try to reach a B1 in Spanish before the end of the year
Number of books. If you have an upper-intermediate level already, you might choose to set a goal to read a certain number of books before the end of the year
Make a friend who is a native speaker
Create a study plan. This isn’t exactly a “goal” though it will still help you focus and prioritize your efforts
I wish you a Happy New Year!
:)
My language goal is to be able to hold conversations with my deaf roommate.
