I’ve been indecisive since I was a child, but I want to change this.
One time in Kindergarten, it took me so long to decide what game I wanted to play that play time was over by the time I chose a game. Lol.
I’m still indecisive as an adult. However, I’m way more decisive than I used to be, especially the past week as I’ve learned a lot about how to be more decisive. Here are the strategies I’ve been implementing.
Strategy 1: I evaluate decisions based on three main factors.
These factors are:
Reversibility - how easily can I go back on my decision back without negative repercussions?
Best case scenario - what is the best case scenario of me making the decision?
Worst case scenario - what is the worst case scenario of me making the decision? Can I live with those consequences? How would I deal with them?
Strategy 2: I don’t overthink decisions that are highly reversible and have a worst case scenario I can live with and/or deal with.
As a result, I end up making way more decisions in a day. I also get a lot more done and am less fearful of making mistakes. It’s freeing. I’ve let go.
Strategy 3: I actively try to make decisions that are highly reversible, have an excellent best case scenario, and a worst case scenario I can live with and/or deal with.
Not much to add here.
Strategy 4: I’ve detached myself from outcomes. All I really want is constant progress anyway.
Once I achieve a goal, I need a new goal anyway. Otherwise the game is over and I get bored. Because of this, I’m reminding myself everyday to focus on maximizing productivity during my work hours (I still rest) and aim for constant progress.
