I forgot this Russian verb like 50 times: кормить (it means “feed”)
It was incredibly frustrating. I reviewed the word over and over. No matter what I did, this word wouldn’t stick in my brain. Eventually, I stopped reviewing it and decided to come up with a mnemonic (i.e., a trick to remember something.)
кормить sounds kind of like “Kermit” in English.
As soon as I made that association, I started picturing Kermit the Frog being fed or possibly feeding someone. In fact, now that I’m writing this blog post, I think a funnier image is Kermit the Frog feeding another frog. Lol.
Now I’ve stopped forgetting the word кормить.
When you keep forgetting a word, ask yourself what kind of mental trick you can come up with to remember it.
My favourite mental trick is to associate the word with a similar English word and/or a funny image (e.g., like Kermit the Frog feeding another frog.) However, there are other mnemonic devices that work too, which you can read more about on this website.
