Documenting my mistakes
Here's what I'm doing wrong
I created my blog for two reasons: share language learning advice and showcase what’s going on behind-the-scenes at the Calgary Language Nerds. Today I will be doing the latter. I’m entering a new phase in my career and I think there are things I need to do differently to ensure the success of the next chapter.
Here are the mistakes I’m making.
Low intensity
I used to work 80 hours a week. That’s a lot. While I don’t want to work that much again, I also don’t feel as if I’m working enough hours right now. I have big goals and my actions aren’t matching my words.
Low impact
I am in the weeds too much. I’m working in my business more than I am on my business. That won’t get me to my long-term goals.
Disorganized
I’m having a hard time prioritizing my efforts. I’m trying to do so much. Perfect my Mandarin and Gujarati. Learn Ukrainian. Teach Gujarati. Grow not only the sales in my business, but also my brand as a whole. Double down on my local language learning club. The truth is, I probably can’t do it all at once. But I don’t know how to prioritize my time. It hurts to let something go.
Somewhat aimless
I used to feel possessed by a strong purpose. While I enjoy my work as much as before, I want to find a singular purpose once more. Something concrete and exciting to aim at. Something that grips me. I think at the moment I just have too many priorities and I need to get more focused.
That’s where I am at today!
Thank you for reading. By the way, I am looking specifically for more Spanish students. I have about 10 spaces open with tutors on my team.
I could also fit another 1-2 people French, Gujarati, or Mandarin into my personal calendar. Spaces for these languages are limited. My calendar is about 90% full.
